Your 5-day sahara desert discovery begins with a climb over the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka pass. We stop to admire the panoramic views of Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides. Our first major destination is the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a preserved mud-brick Ksar and UNESCO World Heritage site.
After exploring the labyrinthine alleys of the kasbah, we continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” We visit the Atlas Film Studios or the Taourirt Kasbah, ending the day in this gateway to the desert.

Today, we head south through the Anti-Atlas mountains toward the Draa Valley. This private experience allows us to wind through the longest river valley in Morocco, shaded by millions of date palms. After a stop in Zagora, the gateway to the southern desert, we leave the asphalt behind.
The real adventure begins as we go off-road, crossing the “Reg” (stony desert) and dry riverbeds. We reach the remote village of Tafraoute Sidi Ali, a peaceful enclave where the Sahara’s vastness truly begins to set in.

Prepare for an epic day of off-road exploration following parts of the original Paris-Dakar Rally route. We navigate through the desert landscape to the Ramlia Oasis, a tiny Berber community surviving in the heart of the dunes. This is Saharan life at its most authentic, far from the crowds.
By late afternoon, the towering orange dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon. Upon reaching Merzouga, you will switch your vehicle for camels and trek into the dunes to reach your luxury camp just in time for a spectacular sunset.

After a sunrise breakfast in the dunes, we visit the traditional market of Rissani, once a vital stop for the trans-Saharan caravans. Our journey then turns north toward the mountains. We stop at the Todra Gorges, where you can walk along the river beneath vertical limestone cliffs.
In the afternoon, we enter the Dades Valley. We drive through the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs” and stop to see the unusual “Monkey Fingers” rock formations before settling in for the night in the cool mountain air.

On the final day of your 5 days sahara desert discovery, we travel through the Valley of the Roses, famous for its Damascus roses and local cosmetic cooperatives. We pass through the Skoura palm grove before beginning our ascent back over the High Atlas Mountains.
As we descend toward the plains of Haouz, the red walls of Marrakech come into view. Your driver will drop you off at your accommodation by late afternoon, bringing this rugged desert expedition to a close.
