3-day private desert trip Itinerary
Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
Your 3-day private desert trip begins with a morning departure from your Marrakech accommodation. We head toward the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi N’Tichka pass at an altitude of 2,260 meters. Along the route, we pause at various panoramic viewpoints to capture the dramatic landscape and ancient Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides.
By midday, we reach the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This fortified village is one of Morocco’s most spectacular and best-preserved Ksars. After exploring the narrow alleys, we continue toward Ouarzazate to see the Taourirt Kasbah. The drive then takes us through the Skoura palm groves and the Valley of the Roses, famous for its annual rose festival, eventually arriving in the Dades Valley for the evening.

Today, we travel further into the Dades Gorges to witness the unique rock formations known as the monkey fingers. From here, our route heads toward Tinghir and the Todgha Gorges. You will have time to walk through the massive canyon where the limestone cliffs reach heights of 300 meters, creating a narrow, awe-inspiring passage.
The journey continues eastward through several Berber towns, including Tinejdad and Erfoud, where the landscape begins to transform into the black rocky desert of the pre-Sahara. Upon arrival in Merzouga, you will meet your camel team for a trek across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. We reach the camp in time to witness the sunset from a high dune before enjoying a traditional Saharan dinner and music under the stars.

We recommend waking up early to experience the silence and changing colors of the Sahara during sunrise. After breakfast at the camp, we depart the dunes and head toward Rissani, an important historical trading hub. We then cross the rugged volcanic peaks of the Saghro Mountains toward Agdz, where we enter the Draa Valley.
This valley is home to the longest river in Morocco and is lined with extensive palm oases and fortified Kasbahs. We follow the valley northward, passing through the administrative center of Agdz, before crossing the Anti-Atlas range. After a lunch break in Ouarzazate, we re-cross the High Atlas Mountains, reaching Marrakech by early evening to conclude your 3-day private desert trip.
