Day 1
Marrakech to the Dades Valley, via the High Atlas and Aït Ben Haddou
Your 4 days Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour begins with a pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech. We head into the High Atlas and climb the winding roads of the Tizi n’Tichka pass, stopping often to admire the changing colours of the landscape and the traditional architecture of the Berber mountain villages.
By midday we reach the world-famous Aït Ben Haddou, where a walk through the ancient ksar shows why it has been chosen for dozens of Hollywood films. After a stop in Ouarzazate, the route continues through the Skoura oasis and the Valley of the Roses to the Dades Valley, surrounded by towering red rock formations.

Day 2
Dades Valley to Merzouga, via the Todgha Gorge
We head deeper into the valley to see the rock formations of the Dades Gorges, then continue to Tinghir, the gateway to the Todgha Gorge. You’ll walk along the riverbed where the canyon walls narrow to just 10 metres apart and rise 300 metres above you.
In the afternoon, the road crosses the dry plains of the pre-Sahara through Erfoud. In Merzouga, you’ll meet your camel team for a trek into the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes. The evening is spent at a private camp, with dinner by the campfire and a night under the wide desert sky.

Day 3
Merzouga to Ouarzazate, via Rissani and the Draa Valley
Wake early to watch the sun rise over the dunes, towards the Algerian border. After breakfast we leave the desert for Rissani, a historic market town and the ancient capital of the Tafilalet region, then cross the volcanic Jbel Saghro range towards the green Draa Valley.
The valley follows Morocco’s longest river and is lined with palm groves and ancient earth-built kasbahs. The slower pace leaves time to enjoy the southern way of life. We reach Ouarzazate in the late afternoon, with time to relax or explore the town centre.

Day 4
Ouarzazate to Marrakech, via the Telouet Kasbah
On the final day of your 4-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour, we return to Marrakech on a different mountain road. We visit the Kasbah of Telouet, once the palace of the Glaoui family, for a rare look at remarkable Moroccan craftsmanship, and enjoy a quieter view of the High Atlas before rejoining the main pass.
We descend the northern slopes of the Atlas and arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon, where your driver drops you off at the address of your choice.

Is 4 days enough for this desert tour?
Yes, 4 days is ideal. It’s a more relaxed pace than our 3-day desert trip, with time for the Telouet Kasbah and a full afternoon in the Draa Valley.
What’s the difference between this and the 3-day tour?
The 4-day tour adds a night in Ouarzazate, so the long drive back to Marrakech is split in two, and it returns through the Telouet Kasbah on a quieter mountain road.
Is this tour shared with other travelers?
No. It’s 100% private: just your group, your own vehicle and your own driver.
Can I change this itinerary?

What should I pack?
A small bag for the night at camp, since your main luggage stays safe in the vehicle. Bring loose, respectful clothing, warm layers for desert nights, sunscreen and a reusable water bottle.

Carry some dirhams (MAD) for small purchases in villages, and for lunches, drinks and entrance fees, which aren’t included in the price.
When is the best time to go?
October to April is the most comfortable season. Summer days in the desert are very hot and winter nights can be cold, so we’ll help you plan around the weather.
