Marrakech – High Atlas – Telouet – Ait Ben Haddou
Your 5-day desert berber experience begins with a pickup from your hotel in Marrakech. We set out toward the High Atlas, taking a scenic detour along the old salt caravan route. We visit the historic Kasbah of Telouet, a hidden gem of Moroccan architecture that offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of mountain lords.
The journey continues through the stunning Ounila Valley, where the red rock contrasts with the green riverbanks. We arrive at the UNESCO site of Ait Ben Haddou in the late afternoon, allowing for a quiet exploration of the ancient Ksar before the sunset paints the mud-brick walls.

After breakfast, we head toward the Skoura Oasis. We stop to visit Kasbah Amridil, a living museum that showcases how these earthen fortresses were built and maintained. The route then leads us through the Valley of Roses, where the landscape is filled with fragrant blooms during the spring months.

After lunch, the scenery transforms into the arid, volcanic plains of the pre-Sahara as we pass through Erfoud.
Upon reaching Merzouga, you will meet your camel team. We trek into the golden heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes to reach our private desert camp. The evening includes a traditional dinner by the campfire followed by a night under the brilliant Saharan stars.

Waking up early allows you to witness the sun rising over the dunes near the Algerian border. After breakfast, we visit Rissani, the foundation of the Alaouite dynasty and home to one of Morocco’s most authentic traditional markets. We then cross the Jbel Saghro mountain range, offering rugged and moon-like vistas.
The route descends into the Draa Valley, following Morocco’s longest river. This valley is home to millions of date palms and hundreds of ancient Berber villages. We finish the day in the quiet oasis of Agdz, where you can relax at a historical Kasbah hotel nestled among the palm trees.

On the final day of your 5-day desert berber experience, we cross the Anti-Atlas mountains via the Tizi N’Tinififft pass. The road offers panoramic views of the palm groves from above. After passing through Ouarzazate, we begin our final ascent over the High Atlas via the Tizi N’Tichka pass.
We arrive back in Marrakech by late afternoon. Your driver will drop you off at your riad or hotel, marking the conclusion of your journey. This immersive circuit ensures you leave with a deep understanding of the southern landscape and the authentic Berber way of life.
